Beauty in Simplicity

Greetings, fellow classmates!

I found a beautiful photograph that I found very interesting. Instead of using nature or a large abstract idea, Dave Anderson uses a vintage painting of a boy on a plain wood table. What made me choose this photo was, because it captured my attention. It was the idea of beauty in simplicity and reusing old paintings to create new art that made me appreciate the photographer and his work. The background is not extremely colorful and it also is blurred. Light comes in from the background and there are some shadows in the photo. Because of these techniques, the focal point is the painting. It draws the eye to the details of the boy. Since the painting is the focus, the viewer can infer that there is something special about this painting of the boy. There is a reason why the floor is bare and there is exposed wood. This painting is not just a painting. This is why I love this photo, because it brings a new twist to things. It brought a new meaning to the painting and new thoughts into my head. Ideally, this is what any artist wants to do and Dave Anderson achieved that.

This is the web address to this particular photo. All of his photos are amazing and many have a humorous outlook. http://dbanderson.com/#/images/painting-of-a-boy

Until next time! Happy Blogging!

  1. Thank you for sharing. This is, indeed, a powerful image...After reading your post, I visited Dave Anderson's site, which I haven't been to in awhile....I especially enjoy his "rough beauty" project.
